An Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) is an international standard for describing the environmental performance of a product. The goal of an EPD is to provide relevant, verified and comparable information on the environmental impact of a product or service. The basis of an EPD is an LCA study, performed according to the ISO-standards, and must be reviewed by an external party.

"Milieurelevante productinformatie (MRPI)" is a Dutch version of EPD, aimed at the building sector. An MRPI is made for a producer or branch organization for a building material or building product. The environmental profile is produced via an LCA study, which is conducted according to the specific MRPI guidelines. This method contributes to further improvements in the comparability of results. An MRPI is a public document, and is valid for 5 years.
